CORPORATE RESPONSIBILITY >
Sourcing and supply
As a sustainable steel producer, Celsa UK are committed to sourcing our constituent materials, manufacturing our products and supplying our customers in a responsible manner.
As an electric arc furnace (EAF) steel producer, our largest constituent material is scrap metal. In order to reduce our CO2 emissions, we source the majority of our scrap from within a 200 mile radius of our facilities at Cardiff. Where possible, we try to utilize more efficient methods of transport. At present we aim to bring in 50% of our scrap metal, and deliver 20% of our finished product by rail. These figures are targets which are planned to increase year on year.
Celsa UK are committed to providing our customers with excellent service. Our customers’ needs are paramount and we work closely with them to ensure that our rolling programmes are harmonized with their needs and the wider market demand. Celsa Group philosophy is to both roll to, and supply from, stock. We endorse this philosophy, and hold in the region of 70,000 tonnes of finished stock at any one time so we can supply our products to anywhere in the UK within 24 hours, and to Ireland within 48 hours.
We pride ourselves on providing our customers with unrivaled product quality, diversity, availability and service. Whether working closely with our customers to ensure rolling programmes are in line with market demand, offering bespoke loading options or through our customer zone, where customers can access stock levels and retrieve test certificates electronically, the service we provide is second to none.
Celsa UK is committed to sustainable steel production and responsible sourcing and supply. In 2009, we became the first steel manufacturer certified to a recognised responsible sourcing standard, Eco-Reinforcement (BES 6001 Sector Standard), for our reinforcing products. This was followed in 2010 with accreditation to BES 6001 for our entire product range.
