To enable CELSA UK’s circular approach to steelmaking, we not only receive processed scrap directly into our Cardiff Melt Shop, we also have a dedicated scrap division CELSA Recycling UK, which helps to facilitate total scrap supply to the furnace, in excess of a million tonnes every year. All of them can receive processed or unprocessed ferrous scrap and non-ferrous grades. Our Circular Hubs all have full processing capability; so scrap arising from any source, in any location and presented in any form, can be discussed.
Our scrap division is proud to receive scrap from a wide range of suppliers, including local merchants and related industry facilities, as well as direct from local or national construction/demolition/strip-out projects, local and national waste companies and municipal sites. If supplier delivery isn’t possible, CELSA Recycling can provide logistics support to collect material, whether by installing skips directly into a facility, or by providing vehicle collections for sites further afield from the scrapyards. There is no maximum or minimum quantity of scrap that can be received and all deliveries are recorded over a certified weighbridge. Once material is processed, we then send directly to CELSA’s furnace in Cardiff, so can help suppliers to document that their ferrous scrap is destined only for recycling here within the UK manufacturing industry and not potentially lost to Export. To help to further minimise CO2 impact, CELSA Recycling UK moves scrap in bulk by train from our Sunderland and Rotherham yards, directly into the Melt Shop.
